Bitcoin Accepted

November 12, 2013Ink Factory, the online print retailer, is proud to announce that it is the first UK ink cartridge shop to start accepting Bitcoin in payment for printer cartridges.

It is very easy to pay with Bitcoin, any customer can use it (provided they hold Bitcoin, of course); it is simply presented as an additional payment in the checkout page – alongside Credit Card, Debit Card and Paypal.

After completing a transaction the customer is issued with an address to which they must send payment. Their order remains pending in our system whilst it polls every few minutes to see if the payment has been received. Bitcoin transactions can take several minutes to be confirmed in the Blockchain by others (the essence of the distributed nature of Bitcoin).

Once confirmed, the order is dispatched as normal. The transaction cannot be reversed by the customer (unlike a credit card), but of course this is of no concern to customers shopping with reputable retailers with a clear commitment to customer satisfaction.

Now in our 15th year, Ink Factory has more than 10,000 positive customer reviews; we know our customers have confidence in shopping with us.

This is not the first time Ink Factory has been on the cutting-edge of new technology, in July 2013 we were the first in the World to 3D print a pair of working inkjet printer cartridges (described in the press at the time as “uniquely disruptive” – Techcrunch 26/7/13); exploring how emerging technologies could influence the way we do business is nothing new to us.
