Australia Day is celebrated annually on January 26th and commemorates the establishment of the first European settlement at Port Jackson, now part of Sydney, in 1788.  And you don’t have to be Antipodean yourself to take an interest in the country and its culture…

One Australia Day website has lots of colouring pages to complete including flags, flowers and animals and another Australia Day website has a word search, crossword and trivia quiz available to download to test how much you know about the country – but if you don’t score highly straight away then there’s plenty more resources available to print out from around the internet to increase your knowledge.

Activity Village’s Australia Day Printables include the flag, writing paper, bookmarks, greetings card, fact sheet, lacing card, Oceania map, slang booklet and paper doll clothes.

Essential Kids also has Printable Australia Day activities for the kids including a word search, memory game, history timeline, koala join the dots and the Aboriginal flag.

Our Worldwide Classroom put together and shared a Free Printable Australia Day Learning Packet for a previous Australia Day for their children aged 10, 7 and 3.  Notebook pages, songs, colouring pages, Montessori style cards, copy work, slang cards, phonics practice, handwriting practice, do a dot marker pages and size sequencing activities are all included.

Be a Fun Mum’s Australia Day Craft & Printables offers “Fun and easy Australia Day Craft you can whip up in a jiffy” showing how you can use her temples as mini flags, cupcake toppers or fruit tips and bookmarks and also includes some downloadable colouring pages.

If you’re a regular Printables reader then you’ll know we like to use any occasion as an excuse for a party and it’s always nice to come across similar people such as Sandra and Renée whose blog is called Mother Duck Said, Let’s Party.  And bunting has, of course, become the first essential to party decor these days so they’ve included some Australian flag inspired bunting on their website ready for you to download, print, cut out and hang up.
