Have you been celebrating National Tree Week this week? Why not round it off with taking part in a National Tree Dressing Day event? Held in the first weekend of December this national day celebrates our trees by making them centre of attention through adorning them with ribbons, lanterns and decorations taken from nature. If you can’t make it to a communal dressing in your local park or woodland and don’t have a suitable tree in your back garden then there’s always another alternative available to decorate at this time of year…
Ink Factory’s own printable Christmas tree decorations include diamonds, icosahedrons, crackers, parcel cubes and, answering the annual debate of what to put at the top, a gold star tree topper. The festively coloured red and gold decorations also include snowflake and holly designs.
Colour in your own baubles, Christmas characters and candy canes by printing out First Palette’s Christmas Tree Ornaments and find a colour-in bell, cracker, present and star via publisher Scholastic’s Christmas decorations templates. Or personalise your tree decorations with photographs instead using the Free Printable Ornaments templates of tree and circular frames offered by Today’s Mama.
Due our own new arrival just a week before Christmas Day, Cosatto’s first crafty creation quickly caught my eye. The “baby stuff with personality” website’s Baby’s First Christmas Free Printable is “perfect to create something for all those new babies out there about to experience their first Christmas”. These cute little tree angels come in four options – Bizzy Betty Plain Tree Angel, Bizzy Betty Baby’s First Christmas Tree Angel, All Star Plain Tree Angel and All Star Baby’s first Christmas Tree Angel. They’ve “set the printable up to have two per page; so there’s always a spare (or an extra one for the Grandparents).”
A Mummy Too’s Free printable 3D Christmas characters! feature Father Christmas, an elf and a reindeer. As well as threading string through the top of them for tree decorations, Emily also suggests using them as finger puppets to act out a Christmas story, adding name labels to their tummies to make festive seating markers, sitting them on the mantle piece or lining them up to play miniature skittles! The three characters come in pre-coloured and ready-to-colour versions.
Your living room might be giving a home to a tree this season but our woody outdoor friends also provide homes for plenty of others. Rebecca’s Misc plays homage to this with her Winter Birds ornaments. The species include the sparrow, chickadee, Carolina wren, purple finch, cardinal and more.
Would you like to add fabric decorations to your tree as well as card or paper ones? As part of its Christmas in July posts Sew Mama Sew featured a printable template for a Gingerbread House Ornament from designer Laura Howard from her book Fa la la la Felt: 45 Handmade Holiday Decorations.
Stuck for space for a full-size tree this year? Why not print your own 12 inch tall card version? Head to Noella Designs, “where it’s Christmas every day!” to download its template.
Or do you want to put some trees on your tree? Or even give a gift in a tree? Download Trimcraft’s Christmas Tree Gift Box Template “great for holding sweet treats, trinkets and stocking fillers, finish with ribbon at the top to make it nice and secure”.
