What Is AirPrint?

Apple’s AirPrint allows users to print their photos, email, web pages and documents directly from an iPhone or iPad without installing special drivers.

When Apple updated their mobile operating system to iOS 4.2, Apple enabled all compatible iOS devices to print to printers that are connected to a WiFi network. However NOT ALL WiFi enabled printers support Apple’s AirPrint technology. Here on this page is a list of Canon printers that are compatible with AirPrint.

To use a Canon AirPrint printer you will need one of the following iOS devices:

– iPad (all models)
– iPhone (3GS or later)
– iPod touch (3rd generation or later)

The AirPrint-enabled printer must be connected to the same home Wi-Fi network as the iOS device. Wi-Fi printers can take several minutes to join a Wi-Fi network after being turned on. Ensure that the printer is connected to the Wi-Fi network before attempting to print.

Certain printer features or functions may not be available when using AirPrint (for example, selecting different paper trays, red-eye reduction, booklet printing, and so on).

To use your Canon printer for AirPrint, the printer software (firmware) version must be 2.000 or later.
